Wednesday, January 23rd


Reminders:

  • Legoland has been rescheduled to January 24th. In your child's agenda bag there is a small piece of paper that must be signed, stating that your child will now attend the trip on January 24th.
  • Re-Registration forms are due February 11th! If you have any questions, please let me know and I will gladly help you!
  • Scholastic book orders are due Thursday, January 24th.
  • Please practice the poems at home with your child.
  • As part of the grade one summative assessment the classes have decided to open a market to complement their organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 25, 28 and 29. The market will take place all day Thursday, January. 24th and Friday, January. 25th. All profits made will be donated to the Sick Kid’s Hospital. 
  • The SJA parent guild is spreading cookie love for Valentine's Day. There will be a cookie decorating party on February 14th. You can get 4 cookies for $5, and must be pre-ordered by Friday, February 1st.
  • These past two weeks, students have been coming in wearing the wrong uniform. Please remember that Monday and Wednesday are gym uniforms, and Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday are academic uniforms. Students must wear white socks with the gym uniform and navy socks with the academic uniform.

Inquiry into Language 
Today the students listed words that begin with the letter B, and sang the song of the week. Later we did an upper- and lowercase letter matching. The students were given a sheet that had a hat with an uppercase letter, and mittens with lowercase letters. They were to colour the correct mitten to match the hat.

Today we worked on AAB patterns. The class was given sheets with an incomplete pattern. They were to cut out the pictures and glue them to the correct spot.

GoNoodle
The students enjoyed dancing along with GoNoodle. They loved "Banana, Banana, Meatball"!

Today the students listed words that begin with the letter F, as well as sang the song of the week. Later we did a review of past letters of the weeks, we sang the songs, stated the letter we sang and listed words that began with the letter. 

Reading Buddies
We had reading buddies today with the grade 3s! The students were very excited to be able to choose a story and have it read to them.

Today we tried to create patterns out of class manipulatives.

French
Mlle. Jessica was covering Ms. Padovan's class, and was unable to teach our class. During this time, the students watched Magic School Bus.

Ms. Yustin was away today, our class participated in GoNoodle, as well as Cosmic Kids Yoga! There is a song from GoNoodle that is perfect for our patterning unit!
